Guiding puppies and young dogs through the juvenile and adolescent periods in their development can be a very challenging time. The cute, cuddly puppy that was first brought home has now started to grow, gets into and chews everything in sight, as well as seems to have forgotten everything they should know. Sound familiar?
Having a puppy or adult dog that can be included in family outings, friendly to strangers and is cooperative at the vet office is a goal most owners want to achieve. The journey to achieve this goal of a well-mannered, enjoyable family companion is life-long and needs to start in puppy hood. To give owners the opportunity to learn the skills needed to teach their pups how to be successful and to ensure a lifelong relationship, we are now offering Next Steps: Puppy Manners class.
Our Next Steps: Puppy Manners class was designed to teach owners how to be proactive instead of being reactive with their pup and to learn the skills needed to train their puppy in a fun and enjoyable way. Positive reinforcement training techniques will be used to train puppies to have polite, household manners. The behaviors taught in our Next Steps: Puppy Manners class include: sit, down, wait/stay, leave it, come when called and loose leash walking. Also covered is “go to your mat”, targeting, attention/focus and learning a trick for graduation.
