Animal Medical Center is accepting applications for the following positions:

VETERINARY ASSISTANTS / CERTIFIED VETERINARY TECHNICIANS - 
full and part time

VETERINARY RECEPTIONIST - part time

These are excellent opportunities for highly motivated and hard-working individuals who have veterinary experience.

We are a full service companion animal hospital founded in 1989.  Our commitment is to provide quality veterinary care throughout the life of our clients’ pets.  Our services and state-of-the-art facilities are designed to assist in routine preventive care for young, healthy pets, early detection and treatment of disease as pets age and complete medical and surgical care as necessary during his or her lifetime.

We understand the special role that pets play in our clients’ families and are dedicated to becoming partners in their pet's healthcare.  We treat their pets as we would our own.  Our goal is to practice the highest quality medicine and surgery with compassion and an emphasis on client education.

Ongoing staff training, continuing education and promotion from within are the keys to our success.


Veterinary Assistant / Nurse / CVT Job Duties:

  • Close Client Contact and Close Animal Contact.
  • Handling and restraining a variety of animal species during examinations and surgeries.
  • Working one on one with veterinarians as an assistant during office visits for physical exams and vaccinations.
  • Surgical preparation and assistance, anesthetic monitoring, radiology, cytology and laboratory procedures.
  • Sample collection and processing.
  • Nursing care, injections, fluid therapy and surgical aftercare.
  • Hospital and kennel maintenance.
  • Client education about animal health issues such as heartworm, flea and tick prevention, nutritional counseling and behavioral counseling.

Requirements:

  • Animal Related Employment Experience preferred, but not required. CVT a plus for technician/assistant applicants.  
  • General Animal Knowledge and Personal Experience with Animals is required. We will train the right candidates.
  • Ability to maintain a positive, upbeat attitude at all times.
  • Must be a team player. Ability to effectively work with a diverse group of personalities is essential.
  • Must be able to work days, night and weekend shifts.
  • Exceptional client services skills and experience is required for the position. Must be a “people person” who thrives is a fast paced, dynamic environment where clients always come first.
  • Willingness and drive to learn new things and develop new skills. Continuing education is essential to be successful in the veterinary field.
  • Outstanding communication skills. Ability to effectively educate clients is as important as communication with co-workers.
  • Ability to multitask – In these positions, no day is the same. Candidates must be able to effectively handle multiple projects while maintaining a positive attitude.
  • Must be able to regularly lift up to 30 pounds and complete physical tasks as necessary.


Veterinary Receptionist Job Duties:

  • Close Customer Contact and Close Animal Contact.
  • Greeting clients, answering phones, scheduling appointments, answering client questions, invoicing and explaining invoicing to clients.
  • File maintenance and file organization.
  • Balancing cash drawers and daily settlements.
  • Assess emergency calls and initiate emergency procedures.
  • Working one on one with assistants, technicians and doctors as needed for patient visits.
  • Prepare prescriptions and prescription food for client pick up.
  • Hospital and kennel maintenance as needed.
  • Client education about animal health issues such as heartworm, flea and tick prevention, nutritional counseling and behavioral counseling. 

Requirements:

  • General animal knowledge and personal experience with animals helpful
  • Ability to maintain a positive, upbeat attitude at all times.
  • Must be a team player. Ability to effectively work with a diverse personalities is essential.
  • Must be able to work days, night and weekend shifts.
